Colombia

Latin America & the Caribbean

Colombia, especially Medellin, is a Reggaeton export superpower. Karol G, Feid, J Balvin, Maluma, Blessd, Ryan Castro and a new wave around Kris R. keep showing up at the top of global Latin charts, and producer Ovy On The Drums anchors a lot of the sound. The country also exports its own subgenre tag, Guaracha, which has built a sturdy international playlist presence. Beyond the dance-floor stuff, Vallenato and Cumbia keep deep roots in everyday Colombian life.

Generational / regional / economic split

Younger Colombians live inside Medellin-flavored perreo and Reggaeton. Outside the big cities, Vallenato — accordion-led storytelling music from the Caribbean coast — is the default at weddings, parties and regional festivals. Cumbia Colombiana stays in rotation as a classical reference point across generations. Class divides matter less here than generation: a thirty-something professional and a working-class teenager will often be listening to the same Karol G single, just with different secondary playlists underneath it.
