Southeast Asia

Vietnam's Spotify top mixes K-pop (Jung Kook, BTS) with domestic V-pop. The V-pop side is increasingly hip-hop-leaning, with HIEUTHUHAI (a graduate of the Rap Viet TV show), Son Tung M-TP and Hngle pulling strong streaming numbers. Vietnam is widely treated as the fastest-growing music scene in Southeast Asia. The country's rap-show pipeline has changed who gets to be a national star.

Generational / regional / economic split

Younger women split between K-pop and V-pop ballads. Younger men lean toward Vietnamese rap. In rural Vietnam, Cai luong — the southern reformed opera tradition — remains essential at weddings and funerals but barely registers on streaming. Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi are noticeably more pop-international in taste than smaller cities, which is a familiar Southeast Asian pattern.
