Indonesia's Spotify top five is almost entirely domestic, led by Ifan Seventeen, Sal Priadi and Nadhif Basalamah with their bedroom-pop-leaning ballads. Underneath the streaming chart, Dangdut koplo โ€” the fast, dance-floor variant of dangdut โ€” was widely called the TikTok viral king of 2026 by local press, even though it shows up much smaller on Spotify than it does in actual everyday life. The result is two different snapshots of Indonesian listening depending on which platform you check. Indonesian indie rock and worship music round out the secondary playlists.

Generational / regional / economic split

Urban Gen Z women split their attention between Indonesian balladeers like Nadhif Basalamah and Sal Priadi and K-pop. Younger men lean toward domestic hip-hop and R&B. Outside the big cities โ€” and especially among working-class and older listeners โ€” Dangdut koplo is the genuine national soundtrack at weddings and provincial festivals. Indonesia is one of the clearest markets in the world where class lines up directly with genre preference: the Jakarta professional class and the rural working class are listening to almost entirely different music.
