Peru
Latin America & the Caribbean
Peru's Spotify top reads heavily as K-pop — BTS, Jimin — alongside Reggaeton imports from Puerto Rico and Colombia, with relatively few Peruvian artists in the top tier. Underneath that, Cumbia peruana via long-running bands like Grupo 5, Armonia 10 and Agua Marina is still the actual national music of weddings, festivals and family parties. The gap between streaming chart and everyday listening is unusually wide here. Salsa peruana and Andean music fill in the rest.

Generational / regional / economic split
Gen Z listeners are largely on K-pop and imported Reggaeton, which is why the Spotify chart looks the way it does. Older and rural Peruvians run on Cumbia peruana and Salsa peruana (Eva Ayllon, Hermanos Yaipen). In the Andean highlands, Andean traditional music keeps a working role at festivals and processions. The Lima coastal scene and the highland and Amazonian markets effectively share a country but not a chart.
