Chile

Latin America & the Caribbean

Chile has built a distinct Reggaeton chileno and Trap chileno scene around producers like Cris MJ, Pailita, Polima Westcoast, Young Cister, Marcianeke and Kidd Voodoo — synth-heavy, low-tempo perreo that sounds noticeably different from the Puerto Rican or Colombian mainstream. K-pop has also taken root more deeply here than almost anywhere else in Latin America. The Chilean Spotify chart in 2026 essentially splits its top slots between those two camps. Older roots music still surfaces around national holidays rather than in everyday listening.

Generational / regional / economic split

Gen Z listeners split their attention roughly evenly between Chilean trap and K-pop, and the local Spotify chart tends to show both side by side. Around September 18, the national holiday, Cueca — the country's foundational folk dance — comes back into rotation almost everywhere. Listeners over forty often still associate themselves with Nueva Cancion Chilena, the Pinochet-era protest tradition of Victor Jara and Inti-Illimani. K-pop fandom in Chile has been an outsized phenomenon in regional press for years now, with Santiago routinely placing in the global top tier for Korean fan events.
