Russia
Northern & Eastern Europe
After the 2022 Western label withdrawal, Russia's domestic share jumped to 85-95% of the chart. Russian-language hip-hop and trap (MACAN, Egor Kreed, Instasamka) and Russian dance pop dominate. Spotify officially exited the market, and Yandex Music plus VK Music are now the main domestic streaming platforms. Western pop reaches Russian listeners mostly through gray-market routes; K-pop is the one non-Western foreign import that flows through more openly.

Generational / regional / economic split
Younger men run on Russian-language trap and rap; younger women lean toward Instasamka-style provocative pop. Listeners over thirty hold onto the classic Russian rock canon โ DDT, Kino, Mashina Vremeni โ and the older Russian pop tradition. The sanctions environment has functionally rebuilt the market into a closed system, with charts that look very little like they did in the 2010s. Regional listening in smaller cities tends to be more domestic-leaning still.
