MENA

Israel's Spotify top five is essentially 100% domestic, anchored by Mizrahi pop โ€” a Hebrew-language pop tradition built on the musical inheritance of Jewish communities from the Middle East and North Africa. Osher Cohen and Omer Adam carry the current mainstream. The genre was treated as marginal cassette-stall music into the 1980s and now defines Israeli pop. Hebrew rap from Eden Hason and the long-running Static & Ben El runs alongside it.

Generational / regional / economic split

Mizrahi pop emerged from Yemeni, Moroccan and Iraqi Jewish musical traditions and was kept out of the Ashkenazi-dominated mainstream pop industry until the 2000s. Generational turnover has now flipped that completely โ€” Mizrahi pop reads as the national mainstream across communities. Hebrew rap and pop fill in the rest of younger listening. Russian-speaking immigrants and the Arab-Israeli community keep their own listening ecosystems that occasionally surface on the chart.
