Taiwan
East Asia
Taiwan's market is split between two streaming platforms that effectively show two different countries. On Spotify, K-pop acts like NMIXX and BABYMONSTER top the chart; on KKBox, Mandopop singers like A-Lin and Jay Chou hold the same position. The Mandopop tradition — Taiwan was the genre's main industrial center for decades — still has a deep multigenerational catalog driving everyday listening.

Generational / regional / economic split
Women under thirty skew heavily toward K-pop boy groups, which is why Spotify Taiwan's top looks the way it does. Listeners over thirty stay with Mandopop ballads and Taiwanese Hokkien-language songs. Taipei supports an indie scene around acts like Sunset Rollercoaster and 9m88; outside the capital, traditional Mandopop holds a much bigger share. Taiwan is one of the clearer markets where the platform you pick determines what the chart looks like.
