Netherlands
Western Europe
The Dutch Top 40 runs roughly 75% Anglo-American on the singles side, so domestic share is fairly low for a wealthy European market. Albums and curated playlists are where Nederpop โ Suzan & Freek, Goldband and the broader Dutch-language pop scene โ shows up more strongly. Amsterdam's world-famous house and techno export, which dominates festivals like ADE and Awakenings, is barely visible on the chart itself. The mismatch between what the Netherlands is known for abroad and what it actually streams at home is striking.

Generational / regional / economic split
Younger listeners run on Anglo-American pop and K-pop. Older listeners default to Nederpop ballads and the older Dutch-language pop tradition. Amsterdam's club and festival circuit is its own self-contained economy that drives huge international ticket sales without producing chart hits. In border regions, German-language Schlager has pockets of regular listening. The Surinamese-Dutch community supports its own Bubbling and Caribbean-flavored scenes that occasionally cross over.
